Obituary

Lillie Bertha (Fuelberg) Sommer age 96 passed away on July 13, 2021 in Brenham.

Lillie was born in the Kuykendall Community of Washington County on July 23, 1924 to Fritz and Annie (Seeker) Fuelberg. She was baptized on November 24, 1924 by Reverend Geo Czerkus at St Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. She was confirmed on April 24, 1938 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Weideville by Reverend Kurt Hartmann. Lillie was married to Wilburn (Kat) Sommer on December 1, 1946 at St John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with the Reverend Paul Gogolin officiating. She attended school in Kuykendall and Old Washington. Lillie spent her life as a homemaker and helped husband Kat with his cattle business. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, lawn work and visiting with friends and family. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham.

She is survived by son David Sommer and wife Beth Ann; granddaughter Meredith Sommerfield, husband Brad and grandson Matthew Sommer; great grandchildren Izabelle Sommerfield and Gabrielle Sommerfield. She is also survived by brother Walter Fuelberg and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brothers and sisters-in-law Arnold and Lillie Mae Fuelberg, Ben and Evelyn Fuelberg, Charlie and Hildegard Fuelberg and Henry and Carrie Fuelberg; sisters and brothers-in-law Viola and Earl Bright and Lonie and Gilbert Randermann; sister-in-law Dolores Fuelberg.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 15 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m.in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, July 16 at 2 p.m.at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Curtis Fuelberg, Bennie Fuelberg, Ronald Wayne Fuelberg, Mike Budell and Charles Holtkamp.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice Brazos Valley for their care. Also, special thanks to the pastors, family and friends who visited Lillie or sent cards and letters during her time at the care facility.
