Obituary

Lillie Wehring Schroeder, age 102 of Brenham passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 in Kruse Lutheran Memorial Village. She was born July 22, 1910 in Bleiblerville, Texas to Ben and Bertha (Remmert) Wehring. Lillie was the youngest of 13 children. Her parents both died when she was very young and was reared by her older brothers and sisters.

She created beautiful Christmas and Easter ornaments from a variety of eggs that will forever be cherished by family and friends.

Lillie’s home and yard were her pride and joy and she enjoyed sharing that with everyone. She loved cooking, gardening, decorating, antiques, and above all “Her family”.

Lillie was a bookkeeper for Hausmann Wholesale Grocery for 40 years. Her memberships included St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, VFW Axillary, and Brenham Volunteer Fire Dept. Axillary.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otto Schroeder in 1976, son-in-law Melvin “Fritz” Ehlert in 2003 and her 12 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by: daughter, Gloria Schroeder Ehlert of Brenham; grandsons; Melvin Ehlert, Jr., Pat Ehlert of Brenham, Jeffrey Ehlert of Austin, Scott Ehlert and wife Rebecca of Pflugerville; great-grandchildren, Anna Ehlert of London,England, Chip Ehlert and wife Danielle of Killeen, Andy Ehlert of Austin and Lillie Ehlert of Pflugerville; special niece Marcia Thompson of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Fenton and Pastor Kindlee Lund officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Herman Ahrens, Jr., Donald Ray Ahrens, Jack Fickesson,Coy Reece, Bob Mitchell and Alvin Schroeder

Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Simank Jr., Ed Schroeder, and Dr. Marvin Prewitt.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hospice Brazos Valley, or the charity of your choice.
