Obituary
Lonnie William Tiemann, age, 92,of Brenham passed away on Sunday, May 29 at Scott & White Hospital in Brenham.
He was born on December 14,1918 in the Sandy Hill community to Fritz and Matilda (Kettler) Tiemann. He was baptized on December 29,1918 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn by Rev. Alfred Bohot and confirmed on March 25,1934 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn by Rev.C.J. Appel. He attended school in Washington County.
He was united in marriage to Eleanor Winkelmann on November 13,1941 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sandy Hill by Rev. W.C. Poehlmann. This union was blessed with two daughters, Karen and Beverly, and one son, Ronald. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1943, serving often as an elder, on various church committees, and was a member of the Men’s Club. He enjoyed dove hunting, fishing, playing cards and dominos, and especially enjoyed dancing. He and Eleanor were charter members of the Top Cat Dance Club.
Lonnie and his brother, Martin, were owners and operators of Tiemann Bros.Tractor Company from 1942 to 1968. He was then employed as sales manager by Duckworth Tractor Company until he retired in 1980.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Eleanor, two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Alvin Ashorn of Cedar Park, Beverly and Bill Barker of College Station, and one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Susan Tiemann of Burnet; seven grandsons, Michael and Tammy Ashorn of League City, Steven Ashorn of Pflugerville, Jeffrey Ashorn of Cedar Park, Dr. Kevin and Christine Barker of Austin, Dr. Philip and Kelly Barker of Denison, William Tiemann and Travis Tiemann of Burnet; seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, and Lindsey Ashorn; Brinkley, Ridge, Gentry and Jack Barker. He is also survived by two sisters, Elene Glenz of Brenham and Evelyn Ludwig of Nederland and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Eleanor Barker, his parents, one brother and two sisters, parents-in-law, six brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, June 2 in Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham with Rev. Matthew Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons. Special honorary pallbearer is Roger Schroeder and all friends of the family are considered honorary pallbearers.
