Obituary

Lora Blome Quebe, 104, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at High Hope Care Center of Brenham.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 25, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Pastor Jill Vivroux will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Lora was born April 16, 1915, to William and Bettie Meyer Blome in the Kuykendahl community of Washington County. She was baptized June 26, 1915, and confirmed April 13, 1930, in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill by Pastor George Czerkus. She attended Kuykendahl school.

On December 10, 1938, she was married to Henry Edward Quebe in St. Matthew Lutheran Church by Pastor Rudolph Becker. They were blessed with two daughters, Elvera Ann and Deanna Lois.

Lora was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill since her marriage. She was a member of the Ladies Aid for many years. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the church choir for more than 20 years. She was also a member of the Rocky Hill - Prairie Hill Volunteer Firemen’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Elvera Ann and Morris Tisdel of Brenham; grandchildren Melanie Tisdel Harp of Knoxville, TN, Erin Tisdel of Houston, Bret (Susan) Stark of Magnolia, Cody (Kelly) Stark of Redondo Beach California, Halee Stark (Nathan) Kalkhake of Burton; also great-grandchildren Alyssa Schmidt (Stephen) Jones of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Zackary and Connor Harp of Knoxville, TN, Sidney Stark, Haden Stark and Tommie Anne Stark of The Woodlands, Chase Fox of Magnolia and Mason Kalkhake of Burton; and one great-great-grandson, Zephen Jones of Fort Walton Beach, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.E. Quebe; her parents; daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and H.L. Stark; three brothers, Willie, John, and Edwin Blome; and eight sisters, Meta Stoll, Rosa Wendt, Clara Lehmann, Hilda Wellmann, Bettie Herzog, Frieda Blome, Edna Finke and Elvera Haney; and grandson-in-law, Lacy J. Harp.

Lora took care of her family as a homemaker. She raised chickens and sold many, many eggs. She canned fruits and vegetables from her garden. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Her angel food cake, Christmas candy, and various cookies were some of her family’s favorites, as were her pickles. She loved all sports, especially the Houston Astros and the Texans. Also, she loved playing cards and dominoes and playing bingo with her friends at High Hope Care Center. The highlight of her many days was when her grandchildren visited, especially the little guys Mason and Zephen.

Pallbearers are Bret Stark, Cody Stark, Nathan Kalkhake, Haden Stark, Chase Fox, Stephen Jones, Robert Neuendorff, and Justin Neuendorff.

Honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill Cemetery Fund or Hospice Brazos Valley.
