Obituary
Loren Ray Hill, affectionately known as “My Sweetheart,” “Dad,” and “Poppi,” passed away on May 10, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 64. He was born on February 15, 1961, in Andrews, Texas, and lived a life marked by generosity, deep faith, and an uncommon ability to make others feel seen and valued.
Loren married the love of his life, Terri, and they shared over 35 years of marriage filled with laughter, devotion, and a fierce love for their family. Together, they raised four children: Amy Hill, Whitney Koonce (Shawn), Aubrey Allison (Nick), and Wesley Hill (Amanda). His greatest joy was being “Poppi” to his grandchildren: Landry Klinger, Brooklynn Klinger, Shiloh Koonce, and Zuri Koonce.
Loren was a businessman: a man of vision who could make something out of nothing. He built businesses, but his greatest legacy lives on in the people he encouraged, believed in, and quietly lifted- often without recognition. After years in the city, he found peace at home in Chappell Hill, TX with Terri- their quiet retreat where they could reflect and just be.
He had a gift for meeting people where they were and speaking life into them. Whether offering a listening ear or a place at the table, he had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged.
Loren was a devoted son to Jess and Lorna Hill, and a protective, loving brother to Janell Tynes, Cheryl Wilson, and David Hill, and their families. He carried a quiet but deep sense of responsibility for those he loved.
Loren delighted in the simple joys that made life rich- Blue Bell ice cream, crunchy peanut butter, feather pillows, a good steak, a quiet fishing trip, and time with the people he loved most. He cherished Christmas, took pride in his Texas roots, and left a piece of his heart in the wide-open beauty of Africa and the peaceful mountains of Colorado.
His faith grounded everything. John 3:16 was especially meaningful- often showing up in small, timely ways as a reminder of God’s love.
He walked faithfully, served humbly, and finished well.
Now reunited with his father, Jess Hill, he rests in the presence of his Savior—his hope fulfilled, his joy unending.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Chappell Hill, located at 7675 FM 2447, Chappell Hill, TX 77426.
