Obituary

Louise K. Gibbons, 87, of Centralia, MO, died at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham, Texas on December 9, 2009. She was born on January 18, 1922, in Warsaw, MO, to the late Dr. Gilbert S. and Kathryn Johnson Kirby. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Gibbons, in 1957.

They moved to Centralia, MO, in 1951 where she lived for 56 years. After her husband’s death she worked at AB Chance Company as a receptionist / secretary cheerfully greeting those who worked and visited there. She had many friends through the First Baptist Church of Centralia where she was the piano accompanist for many years and remained a member. She taught private piano lessons also. After retiring from AB Chance Co. in 1987, she continued being active in the KZ Chapter of Sisterhood of PEO and the Centralia Museum, playing golf, and playing bridge in several bridge clubs.

She attended the University of Missouri.

After moving to Brenham in 2007 to Kruse Village, she continued making friends and did become a well-loved member of that “family”.

Also preceding her in death are her sister, Geraldine Parsons Corley (2006) and her grandson, Kirby Wade Standley (2005).

Surviving are her son, John M. Gibbons, Jr. and his wife Sook-Hee of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Kathryn Gibbons Standley and husband Bill of Brenham, TX; grandson, John M. Gibbons III and wife Erica of St. Louis Park, MN; granddaughters, Brooke Standley of Deer Park, TX, and Dr. Sarah Gibbons of Lacey, WA; 2-great-grandsons, Mason and Everett Gibbons of St. Louis Park, MN.

No services are planned but a memorial announcement will be forthcoming. Upon cremation, her ashes will be returned to her birthplace, Warsaw, MO.
