Obituary
Lynn McMahen Reynolds, 85, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 15, 1940, in Big Spring, Texas, to Ray “Red” and Imogene McMahen. Lynn attended Big Spring High School where she was Treasurer of the Tri-Hi-Y Club, Reporter of the FHA Club, voted “Senior Class Favorite” by her peers, and graduated in the Class of 1958. Lynn married her high school sweetheart, Charles Whitney Reynolds, on October 18, 1958.
Together they built a life, a family and a business, raising son Michael Whitney and daughters Debra Lynn and Christi Lynette first in Big Spring and later moving to Brenham in 1976. Not only did Lynn serve as an amazing mother to their children, but she also helped manage the office of Whitney’s CPA firm.
Lynn became heavily involved in volunteer work at various organizations and clubs around Brenham, specifically the local hospital, Brenham Downtown Association, the Republican Club, and Keep Washington County Beautiful. Whitney and Lynn were also deeply devoted to their church, First Christian Church of Brenham, and were an intricate part of the church acquiring a Texas Historical Marker in 1984. Lynn found a love for art after joining the Brenham Fine Arts League, which she was a member of for many years and met many lifelong friends. Her family will cherish her many pieces of signed artwork. Of her many roles, though, Lynn adored and cherished being a Grandma most of all. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, which she was extremely proud of.
Lynn is survived by her children, Michael Reynolds of Brenham, Debra Verzele of Clyde, Christi Korth of Brenham; brother-in-law, Dean Porter of San Marcos; grandchildren, Julien Verzele of Clyde, Justin Verzele of Clyde, Kaylee Kettler and husband Ryan of Brenham, Ashlyn Easley and husband Charlie of Brenham; great-grandchildren, Harper and Haygen Kettler, Baby Easley due in November; nieces and nephews, Steve Porter and wife Traci, Greg Porter and wife Pam, Beth Porter, Melissa McMahen Delagarza and husband John.
Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Whitney; parents Ray “Red” and Imogene McMahen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Dorothy Reynolds; brother, Jerry McMahen; sister-in-law, Jane Porter; sons-in-law, Max Verzele and Keith Korth; numerous other beloved relatives.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at First Christian Church of Brenham, 306 Cottonwood St., Brenham, TX, 77833.
