Obituary

Marvin Edson Hughes, Jr., 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2018.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 21st from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services celebrating Marvin Hughes’s life will be held Thursday, March 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at Champion Fellowship with Pastor Tim Webb officiating. Interment will following in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Marvin was born in Pasadena, TX on January 22, 1931 to Marvin Edson Hughes, Sr. and Olive Mozelle Kelly. He was born at a mere 3 pounds.

Marvin served in the U.S. Navy in Korea. He later married Joan Inez Holt. For 30 years, they owned Mae Max grocery store in Pasadena. In 1984, he moved to Brenham. Marvin owned and operated Armstrong McCall Beauty Supply, along with his son David, for 25 years.

Marvin loved to hunt, fish, camp, gamble in Louisiana, and do wood crafting. He attended many super cross races. Time with family was precious to him.

He is survived by: daughter, Teresa Duff and husband Jimmy; sons, Trey Hughes, David Hughes and wife Doreen; grandchildren, Autumn Roberts and husband Tad, Dylan Hughes and special friend Kristen Piper, Dawson Hughes and friend Shelby Kemper; great-grandchildren, Tye and Beaux Roberts; also survived by, step-brother Bill Long and wife Myrtle and step-sister Juanita Erwin.

Marvin was preceded in death by: parents Marvin Edson Hughes, Sr. and Olive Mozelle Kelly; step-mother, Myrtia Hughes; sister, Marilyn Gay Morse.

Pallbearers will be: Luke Crampton, Robert Reichwein, Jeff Ross, Mike Ganske, David Brewton and Robert Blythe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Champion Fellowship or Hospice Brazos Valley.
