Obituary

Mary Dallmeyer Luera, 71, of Brenham passed away on May 13, 2026 with family by her side.

Mary was born in Brenham on November 18, 1954, to Walter and Anita (Quebe) Dallmeyer. The youngest of five children and the only girl, only meant she was loved fiercely, protected and maybe just a little spoiled by her older brothers. But anyone who knew Mary understood quickly that she gave that love right back.

She later married Filbert Luera Sr., and together they built a family and were blessed with two wonderful children, Loretta and Filbert Jr. Her children were the pride of her life, bringing her endless joy and always remaining at the heart of everything she did. Mary devoted many years of service to the Brenham State Supported Living Center before retiring.

Being a grandmother was far more than a title to Mary. It was one of her greatest joys in life. She never missed the moments that mattered most. Whether it was baseball, football, softball, or soccer, she was always there in the stands, cheering the loudest, supporting endlessly, and loving unconditionally. No matter the weather or how busy life became, her grandchildren always knew they could look up and see Grandma there, proudly encouraging them every step of the way.

Mary was a simple woman, yet fiercely independent and strong-willed. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Caring for her roses, going out to lunch with her family, and filling her home with the smell of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies.

She loved deeply and showed it through thoughtful traditions, especially the candy-filled goodie bags she lovingly made for her grandchildren at every holiday and family gathering. No matter their age, everyone received one, and if a bag was ever left behind, Mary made sure it was delivered straight to their front door.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Anita Dallmeyer, and brother Herbert
Dallmeyer and Infant brother.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Loretta and husband Shawn Hawkins, Filbert Jr. and wife Jordan Luera; grandchildren Riley and Paige Hawkins, Rody, Rowdy, Paisley, and Penley Luera ; brothers Billy and sister in law Lois Dallmeyer, Melvin and sister in law Fredia Dallmeyer, Marvin and sister in law Betty Dallmeyer and Nina Dallmeyer and her beloved dog Teddy, who brought her so much comfort and happiness even if just for the few months he was with her.
