Obituary

Mary Louise (Wiecker) Craig, age 86 of Bleiblerville, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 23rd from 5-7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 24th at 3 p.m. at Welcome Lutheran Church with Pastor John Sutton, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mary Louise Wiecker was born January 3, 1933 in Bellville, Texas to Bernhard Karl and Milada Hattie (Ripple) Wiecker, the oldest of three daughters. She lived in the area most of her life and worked at the cotton mill in her younger years. After his service in World War II, on January 9, 1950, Mary Lou married the love of her life, John Craig. With his job in oil production, they traveled throughout the U.S. including Alaska. The family also lived in Tripoli, Libya, North Africa and Indonesia. Upon retirement, the couple settled in Bleiblerville, Texas. Mary Lou was an active member of Welcome Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and served in many other capacities. She was a member of Texas Extension Education Association of Austin County and was active with the Austin County Fair. The family enjoyed gatherings with her culinary delights, especially homemade German Chocolate Cake.

She was known as “Aunt Lucy” to many and loved by all. Everyone was welcome in her world. Mary Lou was a good and faithful servant of Christ and surely sits beside her Lord and Savior.

Proceeding her in death are parents; sister and brothers-in-law, Betty Jean and Willie Stoerner, Lloyd Norwood; nephew Billie Stoerner.

Surviving loving family: husband of 69 years, John Craig; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Kay and Dana Clark, Janis Ann and Jones Lansford; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny James, Jr. and Sally Craig; grandchildren, Matthew and Nicole Clark, Bruce and Tabitha Clark, Jonesy and Nicci Lansford, Laralee and Russell Pankey, Megan Craig, Sean Craig; great-grandchildren, Austin and Katie Clark, Samantha and Jonesy III “Trey” Lansford, Zachary, Sydney, Cameron Pankey, Matthew and Allison Frasier; sister, Joyce Norwood; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
