Obituary
Merle Adele Striekert Cobb, 95, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 11, 2025, in Brenham, Texas. She was born on October 2, 1930, in Houston, Texas, to Herbert Frederick Striekert and Dula Benita Louise Jahnke Striekert.
Merle treasured her family and the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life. She graduated from Lamar High School in Houston and went on to attend Texas Christian University in Fort Worth for two years. Merle and her husband, Bob, built a full and joyful life in Houston as they worked and raised their children. Once their children were grown, Merle began a new chapter as a graphic designer with Elf Aquitaine. After retiring in 1998, Merle and Bob embraced a peaceful and happy life together at their country home near Brenham.
Merle was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Robert Roland (Bob) Cobb. She is survived by her children, Karee Kimbro of Houston and Cameron Cobb of Dripping Springs; grandchildren Ryan Kimbro of Denver and Kellee Kimbro and partner Elliot; and great granddaughter Harper of San Francisco.
A gifted artist and illustrator, Merle shared her creativity generously throughout her life. She will be remembered as a kind, loving, and thoughtful woman whose warmth touched many in both Houston and Brenham. Her presence will be deeply missed and her memory lovingly cherished.
A service celebrating Merle’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 7th at 1 p.m. at Brenham Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
