Michael J. Kalil, Jr. - Guestbook

PJ,

I just learned of Michael’s death when I looked for y’all’s phone number, because I lost all my numbers. You know how much I loved him, and I considered him a true friend. He was fierce in his caring for his friends. I am ashamed that I was not more vigilant in keeping up with you both.

Know that he will live on in my heart, and I will cherish my memories of him.

You were his love, and I hope his memories will help you through your lose.

Hugs,

Gayle

Mike was one of the first clients I interacted with when I began my job at Washington County State Bank, “back in the Dark Ages” as I called it. We had great conversations every time we ran into each other. What a “people person” he was!

He always took an interest in whatever project Butch and I were involved In at the time. Great person!

Rest In Peace, Mike....

PJ and all the family,
I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was a man of character and a rich personality that is hard to come across these days. Truly one of the funniest men I've ever known and very down to earth.
Enjoy all the happy memories as I'm sure he would wish.

Since 1965 as a fraternity brother, I have known Mike as not only a large man in stature, but a truly large man inside. Some of the best times in my life were spent fishing the Gulf and the Bay with Mike and Harold Wilson and deer hunting Paleface for years. Mike was a sneaky good poker player who won my prized shotgun from me once and then offered to sell it back to me for half price. Even the tears cannot wash away the wonderful memories. I trust he is now comfortable and at peace with Our Lord.

Although, regretfully we have not stayed in contact through the years the memories which are still very vivid shall be with me until I see you on the other side. It will be at that time when we can catch up. I never knew you graduated from Lamar. My brother graduated from Lamar and I would have if my parents had not moved their business operations to San Antonio.

My the Lord bless you and keep your family safe.

Uncle Mike will always hold a place in my heart. He never coddled, but taught me many things that I will never forget. Firstly, clean a deer by hanging it by the head, not upside down. I killed my first deer with my uncle in his lap and it dropped like a rock. He gave me my gun, my knife, which I will use for a lifetime. I still don't know what the hell, 'sweet meat on the toilet seat' means, but I think it's a good thing. He's an aggie, I'm a Longhorn and we never let each other forget it. He would call me on my birthday and gave me an American eagle silver dollar even though I didn't always call him. Through the ups & downs, we always said I love you and meant it. See you on the other side. 143
