Michael James Gajeske

Michael James Gajeske, 75, of Brenham passed away on June 19, 2026.

Michael was born on June 2, 1951, in Brenham to T.W. and Bernice (Kramer) Gajeske. He was raised in the Lutheran faith and was both baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. After graduating from Brenham High School in 1969, Michael worked for many years as a self-employed carpenter. On September 9, 1972, he married Shirley Scheffer, and together they shared 53 years of marriage.

He loved to sit around and tell stories. His favorite hobby was hunting, especially going to Colorado and Alaska, on big game hunts. He has several Boone and Crockett trophies from these hunts.

Michael was preceded in death by parents; brothers Larry Gajeske and Robert “Bob” Gajeske; nephews Robert Wayne Gajeske, Jr. and Jeffery Scott Gajeske; parents-in-law Edward and Carrie Scheffer; brother-in-law James Scheffer; sisters-in-law Frances Scheffer and Bonnie Scheffer.

Michael is survived by his wife Shirley; sons and daughters-in-law Charles and Jennifer Gajeske, Allen and Robin Gajeske; grandchildren Lyann, Tyler, Bynten, Mary and Jake; numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 26th from 5-7 PM at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

A private graveside service will be held at Prairie Lea Cemetery with Pastor Bill Morris officiating.
