Obituary

Nelda Muehlbrad, 83 of Burton, Texas passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 in Brenham, Texas.

Viewing will be on Wednesday, August 11th at Brenham Memorial Chapel from 10am-7pm. The graveside service will be Thursday, August 12th at 10:00 a.m. at La Bahia Cemetery. The public is invited as the service will be outdoors.

Nelda Ruth Dominy Muehlbrad was born on August 18, 1937 Groveton, TX to Velda (Moore) and Dewey Dominy. She was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School in Houston. She played in the High School Band. On January 6, 1956 she married Eugene Muehlbrad in Houston, TX. Nelda worked various office jobs in Houston and also worked at the Carmine Post Office for 14 years. She loved serving others and visiting with the patrons. She was a member of Park Place Lutheran Church when they lived in Houston for over 30 years.

Nelda and Gene moved to Washington County in 1992 ready for life in the country. Nelda was involved in Ladies Aid and other activities while a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church for many years. She was a Christian lady that loved God and her family. Nelda was also a long time active member of TEEAssociation Greenvine. She loved Christmas in July, creating beautiful cross stitch pictures, sewing and anything else she could create with her hands. Nelda had a special love for her family and a special place in her heart for her grandkids, Kendra and Grant. Her greatest pleasure this last year has been taking care of her great granddaughter, Westyn Jane. She was looking forward to the birth of Wyatt Rose in December. Nelda had a heart of gold and would always help anyone at any time. She will be missed more that words can say. “Mom… we love you to the moon and back.” Mom and Dad, forever in our hearts, until we meet again.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Eugene, and her parents.

Nelda is survived by her daughters, Nell Jean Muehlbrad, Ruthie (Bob) Kirkwood; grandchildren, Kendra (Hunter) Wisnoskie, Grant Kirkwood; great granddaughter, Westyn Jane Wisnoskie; and her sweet cat Lucy. Also surviving brother, Ron (Jean) Dominy, Jerry (Joann) Dominy; nephews, David (Kimberly), Alan (Melinda); and their families.
