Nelda (Warmke) Schmidt

Nelda Schmidt, age 87, passed away Friday, December 23, 2005 in Trinity Care Center.

Nelda was born May 15, 1918 in Bleiblerville to Wilhelm and Sophia (Hohlt) Warmke and was educated in the Welcome schools. She was a life-long member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Welcome where she was baptized on July 28, 1918, confirmed on October 23, 1932 by Rev. Jacob Appel and married on September 11,1940 to Henry William Schmidt, Jr. by Rev. I. M. Mansur. Nelda and her husband formerly owned the Welcome Store for approximately eight years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry William Schmidt, Jr. on February 2, 1992 and infant son Roger Lee Schmidt.

Surviving family include son Henry William Schmidt, III and wife Gloria of Houston, Texas; daughter Virginia Brandt of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Bradley Schmidt and wife Jana of Houston, Kimberly Moore and husband Brian of Austin, Sherry Lynn Bright and husband Michael of Mobile, Alabama; great-grandchildren Heather Renee Bright, Brandi Bright and Tiffany Bright of Mobile, Alabama, Tanner Schmidt and Trevor Schmidt of Houston and Brandon Moore of Austin; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Helga Warmke of Bleiblerville, Texas, Emily Shupak of Industry, Texas and Ervin Schmidt and wife Tillie of Bleiblerville, Texas.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2005 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome with Rev. Jason Korthauer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Welcome.
