Obituary

It has pleased Almighty God, in accordance with His merciful and divine providence, on Thursday, February 13, 2014 to summon to Himself out of this vale of tears the soul of Olga Jensen Holle.

Olga was born on November 17, 1916 to Henry and Malinda Bosse Jensen. She was baptized in March, 1917, at Friedens United Church of Christ in Washington, Texas, where she remained a life-long member. She was confirmed in the Christian faith on Palm Sunday, 1931.

On June 30, 1938, she married William Charles Holle. The Lord blessed their union with the gift of four children, Rebecca Holle Barton, Ralph William Holle, Thomas Neal Holle, and Ronald Charles Holle.

Olga received a teaching certificate from Blinn College and taught three (3) years at Brown’s Prairie School in Washington, Texas. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing flower gardens and vegetable gardens. Her flowers graced the altars and tables of Friedens Church for many years, and she loved sharing the vegetables she grew with her family and her friends. She was also an excellent seamstress, a Sunday school teacher, a youth leader, a member of Women’s Fellowship, worked with the Washington County Fair and won several Banner Press bake-offs. She and her husband operated Holle Hereford Farm and were members of the Gulf Coast Hereford Association.

Olga was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Becky Barton and husband John of Washington; sons Ralph Holle and wife Donna of Jersey Village; Thomas Holle and wife Lois of Washington; and Ronald Holle and wife Dorothy of Brenham. Her grandchildren include Todd Kolkhorst (and Brittany) of Austin, Christy Kolkhorst Holloway (and Deric) of Spring, Geoff Holle (and Jessica) of Round Rock, David Holle of Jersey Village, Jonathan Holle (and Sarah Moon) of Austin, Kelley Holle Ragusa (and Jean) of College Station, Susan Holle of Washington, Stacy Holle Aschenbeck (and Ryan) of Brenham, and Kyle Holle of Jersey Village. She also had 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, her parents, her brothers Ervin, Melvin, Bill, Henry, Lawrence, and Bennie Jensen and his wife Willie Mae; her sisters Minnie and Anna Jensen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Charlie and Nelda Holle, M.C. and Caroline Holle Peterman, and niece Suzanne Peterman.


Thanks go out to neighbors and friends who have supported her throughout her life. Thanks also to her caregivers at Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center.

Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm, Saturday, February 15 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service is 2 pm, Sunday, February 16th at Friedens United Church of Christ of Washington. Pastor Greg Felder will officiate. Following the service, she will be buried in the church cemetery alongside her husband.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and granddaughters-in-law.

Memorials may be given to Friedens UCC, Church Cemetery or Hospice Brazos Valley.
