Ora Nell Jurries 88 of Brenham passed away Friday, March 17, 2006 in Trinity Medical Center.
She was born May 30, 1917 to Otto A. and Julia (Makowsky) Wickel. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Greenvine. On November 24, 1938 she was united in marriage to Alvin A. Jurries in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. Mrs. Jurries was employed by Perry Brothers as a sales clerk and from there she retired. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and involved in various ladies organizations there. Mrs. Jurries was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Trinity Medical Center Auxiliary.
Her loving family included: daughters, LaNell Seeker and husband Edwin Jr., Gayle Jahnke and husband Arno; son, Wade “Bubba” Jurries and wife Laura all of Brenham; grandchildren, Russell and Tina Seeker, Troy and Carol Seeker, Julie and Jason Hueske, Lance and Ashley Jahnke, Gwynne and John Mabie; great grandchildren, Colby and Emily Seeker, Hunter Seeker, Claire Hueske, Jacob Wade Mabie; sister-in-law, Thelma Jurries; numerous nephews and nieces; special neighbors, the Hilbert Goessler family, the Bill Moran family, James and Lynette Hodde.
Mrs. Jurries is preceded in death by parents, husband Alvin A. Jurries on January 12, 1984, brother Nolan A. Wickel, nephew Nolan B. Wickel, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Herbert Jurries, Melvin and Bernice Schulte.
Visitation was held March 19, 2006 from 5-7 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 20, 2006 at 2 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church with pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Nolan B. Wickel, Jr. and Jason Wickel. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Marvin Jurries, Royce Jurries, Richard Hons, Ronnie Schulte and Roger Schulte.
