Patricia Jean (White) Stogdill - Guestbook

I want to thank all of you that have signed the guestbook for Jean. As we approach her birthday I wanted to post the below poem.

GOD SAW YOU GETTING TIRED
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped His arms around you
And whispered “Come to Me”.
You didn’t deserve what you went through,
And so He gave you rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone,
For parts of us went with you,
The day God you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.

I love you Jean.

Jeannie’s mom and my mom were sisters. They were delightful to be around when they got together. My entire life is filled with memories of my sweet cousin, Jean. We had so much fun together as kids and as we grew older her faith in God touched me and amazed me. She will always be in my heart. Praying for the Lord’s blessings for her family and friends. See you again in Heaven, sweet cousin. Love you always.

Jean and I had many wonderful times together over the years. We taught together at Meyer Elementary. We both lived in Ponderosa and went through the the flood together..
I am sorry that I didn’t make it for visitation . I am fighting cancer as Jean did. Some days are better than others.
Our friendship was strong .We could go a long time between visits but we could pick up as if we still lived close to each other.
I will miss her sweet smile and her soft voice. Jean , told me she was ready to meet her Lord and Savior . She passed
Knowing she would be met with loving arms..
May she Rest In Peace . Love you Jean , Tisa

Jean and I were classmates in the NISD, Nederland, TX. I honestly don't remember exactly when we met, but I can never remember NOT knowing her. She had a glow about her that brought us together....not only as friends, but as sisters in Christ. We lost touch after graduation, but reunited on Facebook a few years ago. It was as if we had never parted. Still, the same beautiful soul....only more so, after all those years. I was saddened to learn of her cancer, but promised to pray for her, always. She fought the good fight! My heart was broken the day she took her homeward flight. I still think of her often and miss her sweet Facebook posts. I hope she knew how much she was loved and how much she is truly missed. Until we meet again.....my sweet, beautiful "sister", Jean. RIP and I'll see you again, soon. Love, Julia ?

Wow--this is so difficult. It is the guestbook I was hoping I never had to sign. I met Jean about 25+ years ago when my brother Al (Sonny to me) and her started dating. My first impression after meeting her was nobody could be that beautiful and that nice at the same time. But I was so wrong! Jean was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She was so kind and friendly and always had a smile on her face--always looking for the good in someone. A true friend that would do anything for anyone. Jean fought this cancer with everything she had from day one. She gave it her all but at the end, she was ready to go Home. Her biggest concern was leaving Al. They truly had a special love for each other that will continue. She loved her children and grandchildren and always wanted the best for them. But most of all, she loved God. I have no doubt that she is one of the prettiest angels in Heaven now looking down on us, probably saying quit crying and be happy for me. Jean--if you only knew how much you are going to be missed by everyone!

Al,
Jean was such a wonderful lady. She made such an impact on Sarah’s life as her teacher at Alton and more importantly as a special friend. I always thought it was so wonderful how she kept in touch with Sarah all these years (Sarah is now in college!) and we will miss her dearly. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers! God bless!

Dear Al and family,
My heart shares your sorrow. My sympathies extends to you and your entire family. I loved Jean like a sister.
I had the privilege to work with Jean at Alton Elementary. We shared many after school learning sessions. Jean was highly respected in education. She loved her students.
For five plus years, Jean was involved in our Alton Relay for Life fund raising events for the American Cancer Society. She truly dedicated so much to our team. She tirelessly supported our cause.
Jean loved her Lord, her family and her friends.
She will be missed. What a faithful servant she has been.
Sincere sympathy,

My name is Bobbie Curbow, I am Al's sister. I met Jean many years ago before they got married. I could tell from our first meeting that she was a genuine down to earth person. We had many conversations over the years. The things that stood out was her love for my brother, her kindness towards others and her enduring love for God. Before her passing, I was at their house for 5 weeks, helping in any way I could. Every night the 3 of us would be at her bedside and I would recite a page from the Bible, Al would say the Our Father and then we would give individual thanks for that day. Any conversation of God would brighten her face. I miss her more than words could possibly say, but I know she is in no more pain and she is at Home. One day we will all be together again. Love you Jean.

Dear Al and Family - My heart breaks for you all as I know you are in deep mourning for such a precious lady. Jean was such an encouragement to me when my mom, Ann Bevers went home with Jesus. I remember seeing Jean in HEB one time and we stopped and just had "church" right there in the aisle. She truly radiated Jesus's love. I know you are thankful that she no longer suffers and is completely healed and whole. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this bittersweet time. Take comfort in the FACT that sweet Jean IS still a wonderful woman... not WAS.

Blessings and prayers, Tracy

Jean has been a light and inspiration to me for many years. I worked with her at Alton Elementary for several years. What a professional! She knew her craft and many children benefited from her skill as a teacher. Anyone that was ever around her for more than five minutes benefited from her grace. I've have various struggles over the years just like everyone else. I always think of Jean during those times and try to model my reaction by how she faced hers. And she faced them with complete reliance on her heavenly Father. She gave him credit and glory for it all. Another strength she had was her tremendous love for Al and her children. She adored him! She was so proud of all her children and grandchildren. What a great example she was to me! Although there is great sadness here because of her absence, she is fully present in His presence. To God be the Glory.

I remember working with Jean at Brenham ISD. She was the ultimate professional and one of the most caring teachers I had the pleasure of collaborating with. I know her fight was long and she had so many battles to overcome, but her victory of being with her heavenly Father has always been her goal. May your memories bring you joy and your faith give you comfort and peace.
