Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Patti Swenson announces her sudden passing at home on August 24, 2026. She was born in Bryan, Texas on September 28, 1952, and always called Texas home through her many relocations. Her parents, James and Shirleen Daniel, preceded her in death.

Her father served his career in the United States Air Force, where Patti learned the secrets of making friends easily and taking those friends with her through letters, as frequent relocations were part of their lives. Following high school graduation in San Antonio, she attended the University of Texas earning an honors degree in Elementary Education. While at the University, she stepped out from under her parents’ faith and personally accepted and followed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior until she passed. Shortly after this commitment, she fell in love and married Mike after his graduation, and they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage together.

After graduation, she had several teaching jobs until relocations created too much emotional hardship as she was forced to leave assignments early. While substituting, she became a mother and her career was redirected from teaching others to using these skills to raise their son John. Following 11 relocations covering 6 states and London England, they settled in Houston, eventually adding one final move to Round Top after Mike’s retirement.

Patti’s first Lupus symptoms arrived in 1975 and followed her until she passed. She was blessed with phenomenal health care allowing her to live a near normal life. While it was always a consideration for home locations and activities, she bore most of these concerns and symptoms internally, while being an outstanding wife, mother, and friend to many.

Patti is survived by her husband, Mike; her son, John, and his wife Carolina; her brother, Jeff Daniel, and his wife, Joyce; her mother-in-law, Mary Swenson; and her brother-in-law, David Swenson. She also leaves behind beloved nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, and many cousins, as well dear friends she embraced as family throughout her life.

The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm at Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas on November 4, 2026. We thank you for your prayers, friendship, and support over her life. God bless You! If desired, any memorials for Patti should be given to your favorite Church or Charity.

Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, TX 77833. Phone number 979-836-3611. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.brenhammemorialchapel.com
