Paula D. Ullrich

Paula D. Ullrich, 43, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Brenham, Texas.

Paula was a member of Industry Brethren Church, where she was baptized and raised in the Brethren faith.

Paula was a loving daughter whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. She especially cherished every opportunity to be with her mother, Betty, until Betty’s passing in July. Paula also loved seeing her dad on the weekends. Her family affectionately called her “Daddy’s Legs,” because he could always count on Paula to go get something for him.

Paula had a special love for her dog, “Little Man,” and enjoyed watching movies of all kinds. She was always happy when she could sit down to enjoy one of her favorite meals—a good T-bone steak and sour pickles. Paula also loved listening to country music and brought her own unique personality and joy to those around her.

Paula’s house moms gave her the affectionate nicknames “Paula Pocket” and “Little Betty,” names that reflected the special place she held in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

Paula worked at the DAY Habitation Center, where she took pride in helping others. Among her responsibilities were putting out the magazines for everyone and sweeping the area. Though these may have seemed like simple tasks, Paula’s willingness to help and be part of her community was an important part of her daily life.

Paula will be remembered for her happiness, her love for her family and Little Man, her enjoyment of movies, country music, wearing the color pink, sour pickles, a good T-bone steak, and the special personality that made her uniquely Paula.

Paula leaves behind cherished memories with her family, friends, roommates, caregivers, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Paula is survived by her father Lynwood Ullrich; siblings Melissa and husband Stephen Foerster, Lynwood Dale Ullrich, and stepsister Susan (Michael) Suggs; uncles and aunts Frank (Darlene) Surovik, Daniel Surovik, Marie Surovik, Theresa (Mike) Ehlert; other family members Katherine (Vernon) Wellmann, Birdie (James) Kristoff, Ernest (Martha) Ullrich, Jacob (June) Ullrich, Tonetta (James) Schlemmer, and numerous cousins.

Paula is preceded in death by her mom Betty J. Ullrich; grandparents Frank and Ester Sebesta Surovik and Jacob and Toni Ullrich; aunts and uncles Christine (Edward) Buscha and Aliene (Fritz) Finke.

A Celebration of Life for Paula will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at DAY Habitation Center, located at 304 East Blue Bell Road, Brenham, TX 77833. Pastor David Bradford will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local animal shelter or the charity of your choice.
