Pauline Sander Jacobs

Pauline Sander Jacobs, age 75, of Brenham, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026. She was born on November 4, 1950, in Brenham, Texas, Washington County, to Steve and Theresa (Kwiatkowski) Nowak.

Pauline was baptized, received her first holy communion and confirmation at St. Stanislaus Catholic church in Chappell Hill, TX.

Pauline attended Brenham High School and graduated in May 1970. She dedicated many years of service to Brenham Independent School District, where she worked for 42 years before retiring in June 2004. After retirement, Pauline continued working part-time for another seven years in Brenham ISD finally retiring in December 2011.

A faithful and active member of her church and community, Pauline generously shared her time and talents with many organizations. She served as President of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Secretary and Ways and Means Chairperson of the Washington County Cattlewomen, and was an active member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW), where she served as president for six years. Pauline also served as secretary of the Eastern Council for several years and was a member of the church council at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham.

On October 28, 1972, Pauline married Vernon Sander at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill, Texas. He preceded her in death September 27,1992.

While working at Brenham ISD, Pauline met Alton Jacobs. They married on May 4, 2002, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham, Texas.

Surviving family includes her nieces, Dorothy Gurka and husband Marvin, Patricia Gregory and husband Thomas; nephews Daniel Faterkowski, Sr., David Nowak and wife Judy; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Stepdaughter Kristine Hembry and husband Tim, stepsons Allen Jacobs and wife Melanie, David Jacobs and wife Anita. Step grandchildren Dawson Jacobs, Brad Jacobs, Dylan Jacobs, Kaylin Jacobs, Kade Jacobs and Kaleb Jacobs. Sister in laws Dorothy Sander and Gertrude Nowak, cousins Bernice Harlan and Rosie Brzymialkiewicz.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Vernon Sander and Alton Jacobs; sister Margaret Faterkowski, brother Leonard Nowak, brother-in-laws Bennie Faterkowski and Donnie Sander, niece Shirley Sebesta, stepdaughter Kimberly Hembry and great nephew Darrell Faterkowski.

A visitation for Pauline will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 8:00AM to 6:00PM at Brenham Memorial Chapel with family present from 4:00PM until 6:00PM. Rosary will be recited at 6:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 701 Church St. Brenham , Texas. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Faterkowski, Sr., Daniel Faterkowski, Jr., Thomas Gregory, Marvin Gurka, David Nowak and Brian Sebesta.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Washington County Cattlewomen and great-nephews Kevin Gregory, Matthew Gregory, Christopher Gurka, Michael Gurka, Douglas Faterkowski, Travis Faterkowski, and Brian Sander.
