Polly (Janda) Wied

Polly Wied, age 83 of Brenham, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 5 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 6 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hostyn Community, La Grange, Texas. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Apollonia “Polly” Marcella (Janda) Wied was born June 18, 1935 to parents Joseph P. and Marcella E. (Muras) Janda. She was baptized June 19, 1935 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hostyn Community, La Grange, Texas. She was united in marriage to Jesse Lee Wied on September 3, 1961 also in the same church.

Polly was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hostyn Community, La Grange, Texas and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham, Texas and was a member of the KJZT. Polly worked at Brookshire Bros in Brenham for twenty-four (24) years, retiring in 1996.

Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lee Wied and her parents.

Her loving family includes: children Janice Marie Pritchard and husband Rex C., M.D. of Flint, Texas; Jesse Lee Wied, Jr. and wife Laura of Comfort, Texas; Joyce Lynn Dickschat and husband Brian of Brenham, Texas; grandchildren Anna Louise Pritchard, Elise Lydia Pritchard, Mary Amanda Theiss and husband John Robert, Katherine Leigh Wied and fiancé Michael Kyrouac, Hannah Virginia Wied, Joseph Lee Dickschat, John Lane Dickschat; brothers Theodore “Ted” and Ann Janda of (Hostyn) La Grange, Texas, Ignac “Iggie” and Loretta Janda of Bryan, Texas; sister-in-law Mary Louise Hernandez, La Grange, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

A special Thank You to caregivers Eva Baker, Pat Moore, Janice Green, Felicia Smith and Eddie Jo Brooks.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Lee Dickschat, John Lane Dickschat, Douglas Janda, Greg Janda, Kenneth Wayne Hernandez and Allen Ray Schertz. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews: Larry Dale Hernandez, Alan Janda, Maurice Janda, Paul Janda, Craig Potts, Kevin Russell and Bennie James Schertz.

Memorials may be given to Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hostyn or Hospice Brazos Valley, Brenham.
