Obituary

Raymond Albert Meech, age 79, of Brenham passed away peacefully August 11, 2025.

He was born on April 2, 1946, in Findlay, Ohio, to Benjiman and Cecile (Bacqué) Meech. After graduating from high school and attending the University of Southwestern in Lafayette Louisiana, Raymond entered the United States Air Force, where he served in Crete and Italy and shared many stories of his time there.

Following his service, he went on to enjoy an extensive career in the oilfield industry, retiring as an engineer and small business owner developing Gas Detectors and analysis equipment used in oil field exploration. One of his proudest accomplishments was contributing to the development of technology that made pay-at-the-pump possible, now used worldwide.

Ray enjoyed a variety of hobbies including woodworking, fishing, shooting sporting clays, amateur radios & electronics, camping, baking, and especially attending his grandchildren’s events. He remained active in retirement and never slowed down.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Benjiman Raymond Meech and Cecile Bacqué Meech.

He is survived by his sons, Benjiman Ryan and Adam Carl Meech, their spouses Gina & Leslie Meech; grandchildren Holden Meech, Kendall Meech, Wyatt Meech and Brooklyn Meech; brother & sister-in-law John & Sally Meech, sister Suzanne Meech; nephew Zachary Meech; niece Niki Doughty as well as numerous cousins and extended family.

In keeping with Ray’s wishes, rather than a formal memorial service, the family will host a Celebration of Life…or a “party,” as Ray called it…at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the Stephen F. Austin Amateur Radio Club in Ray’s name.
