Obituary

Raymond Klump, 89 of Brenham, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1st from 5-7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 2nd at 2 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Charles Parnell officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Raymond Louis Klump was born March 28, 1928 in the Klump Community of Washington County, to Hugo and Martha (Liescheski) Klump. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, where he remained a lifelong member. He attended Klump School. On September 12, 1947, he was married to Esther Schulz at Welcome Lutheran Church by Rev. W. Wolf.

Raymond grew up working on the farm, where he grew corn and cotton, and where he raised beef cattle. He was also a carpenter for several local contractors. Later, he went on to work for Brenham Wholesale Grocery Company full-time. Eventually, he retired from Brenham Wholesale after more than 20 years of employment. He went back to farming, growing his garden, and spending time with friends and family. Raymond especially enjoyed puzzles and card playing with his granddaughters, and sharing cookies with his great-granddaughter, Claire.

Raymond was patient and kind and was never short on words. His conversations will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hugo and Martha Klump, sons Carl Edward Klump and Jerry Klump, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorene and Theo Hahn, Madelyn Klump and Veda Schulz.

Loving family includes wife of 70 years Esther Klump, daughter Rosemary Knebel and husband Gary, granddaughters Adrianne Vincik and husband Brandon and Brittni Branton and husband Michael, great-granddaughter Claire Vincik, brother Leroy Klump, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Eugene and Evelyn Krenek, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Michael Branton, Brandon Vincik, Dr. Craig Klump, Dennis Ashorn, Leroy Brending and Lee Grote, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Krenek, Pat and Jack Brannon, Belinda and Jeff Preuss, and Doris Eckermann.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, Brenham, Texas.
