Rebecca (Maughan) Fletcher

Rebecca (Maughan) Fletcher, 82 of Houston and formerly of Independence, TX passed away Feb. 26, 2018.

Funeral services will be held Wed., March 7th at 2 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. W. Brent Hampton officiating and Rev. Travis Fletcher presenting the eulogy. A reception with family and friends will follow also at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Becky was born May 23, 1935 in Lincoln, NE. She was raised by her Aunt Beulah Oldenburg. She grew up working in a bakery, learning to make biscuits and pie crusts by feel. Her chocolate pies were loved by all. She also worked as a nanny. At age 16, she came to Texas. On August 27, 1952, Becky married the love of her life, Roy H. Fletcher in San Antonio. For over 10 years, she worked as a real estate agent in Houston. Becky and Roy later moved to a farm in Independence, enjoying the slower pace of life. She was always protective of her grandchildren and made sure her granddaughter wore her bonnet to shade her from the sunshine. Becky enjoyed cooking. When family or guests were invited for a meal, it was completely prepared upon their arrival and ready to enjoy. She never sat down, always wanting to serve her guests. Becky loved Elvis and The Beatles. She was an avid Astros fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 57 years Roy Howard Fletcher, Sr. and son Roy Howard Fletcher, Jr.

Surviving loving family includes: sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Lane Fletcher, Gary and Deidra Fletcher and Robert and Brandi Fletcher; grandchildren and their spouses, Travis and Jill Fletcher, James Fletcher, Christopher Fletcher and Jackie Teoh, Elizabeth Fletcher and James Wiseman, Justin and Amanda Fletcher and Tristan Fletcher; great-grandchildren, Josephine, William, Hadley, Amelia, and Roy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E. Blue Bell Rd., Brenham, TX 77833.
