Obituary

Renate Davis passed away after 95 years of a long fruitful life.

Renate was born on June 1, 1931 and survived the heavy bombings of WWII. Ironically, she met her first lifelong love Bill Davis at a youthful age of 15. Her mother unsuccessfully separated Renate and Bill, moving to the countryside outside of Chemnitx, Germany. They could not communicate except by handwritten love notes delivered by her brother Reinold. That obviously worked, Bill reinstated for another year of service and they were married in Berlin in July 1947. They moved back to Bills home in Mississippi and years later moved to a more promising opportunities in Houston, Texas.

Renate helped Bill work himself through the University of Houston. After securing her Master degree in Business, she became administrative assistant for nearby Schlumberger and later became administrative assistant to the Dean of Business at the U of H. Renate enjoyed supporting and attending U of H football games with her lifelong partner Bill for over 65 years.

After supporting Bills successful career in the Metal Building Components Industry, they retired in 1979 to their Mill Creek Farm residence in Bleiblerville, Texas. She expanded her ambitions in the growing antique business and participated with Antiques Gypsy in Brenham and faithfully worked her antiques at Coles of Round Top and local shows in Shelby, Cat Springs, Bellville, and the Industry Heritage Society.

After 2010, bill and Renate sold the Cattle operation and retired to Walnut Hill in Brenham, Texas. Renate with her German decent, loved to travel to her home country and other European nations. They enjoyed travel opportunities to the Far East, Africa, and Russia.

She is survived by her sons Byron (Marilyn) and Boris (Lidia); grandchildren Jessica (Eric) and Patrick; great granddaughter Hallie; brother Reinhold Blattner; caregiver Hinda Lott; family friend Debbie Lehrmann.
