Janet, David, Barry & Families ...
I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. Forever & always, he will be "Pastor Dolton" to those of us who grew up under his pastoral care at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Yoakum. I admit to being intimidated by Pastor Dolton as a child (he used such big words, was so exacting in our Catechism classes & had expectations of seeming perfection in all our acolyte tasks), but I learned a great deal from him ... about the history, ceremony, & theology of our church ... respect for the church & our church family ... Pastor Dolton laid the foundation of my Christian faith. I corresponded with him periodically over the last several years, & always rejoiced when I received one of his letters which were invariably filled with humor, thoughtfulness, & concern for his correspondents. As an adult, I came to appreciate Pastor Dolton as a father, husband & man. My mother-in-law would laughingly reminisce that "Del Dolton drove around Yoakum like a bat out of hell!" Perhaps so, & I also know of his devotion to his beloved Rose, & his children.
I wish you all to know that your Dad's influence was so positive.
God bless you all, Keith Kaiser

I appreciated the many years that Pastor Dolton and I worked together in the TX/LA synod - 1962 - 1973. Del was a faithful follower and a true servant of our Lord Jesus.

Dear Janet, David, Barry, and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences. Pastor Dolton was a large part of my growing up years and I remember him with great fondness. He had such a great sense of humor. I remember times at Luther League when he was the life of the party. Though he has not been in Yoakum for quite some time, we all thought of him often. He will be missed by all.

He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. And the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for Jehovah himself has spoken [it].
May these Words of our Heavenly Father bring you comfort and peace.
