Obituary
Richard Lynn Mathews was born July 18, 1948 in Beaumont, Texas to Ray and Mildred (Hadley) Mathews of Jourdanton, Texas. He was a graduate of Jourdanton High School and Alvin Community College. On August 30, 1984 he married Karen Little in Fulshear, Texas. Richard served honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked as a directional driller in oilfield operations. He was an active member of The Shepherd’s Way Church in Sealy, Texas, a former member of Rodeo Cowboy’s Association and an avid golfer. Richard passed away November 24, 2006.
He was a beloved and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many people who loved him dearly. He touched the lives of all who knew him and he will be greatly missed. He is now in the presence of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Richard is survived by wife, Karen Mathews; daughters, Marla, Marnie, Katie and Hadley Mathews; granddaughters, Shelbie and Raigan all of Brenham; brother, Jim Mathews and wife Jeannette of Richmond; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Fairfield of Katy, Adriane Gray of Richmond, Debbie, Lisa, David and Donnie Vrana of Jourdanton and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Mildred Mathews and sister Freida Mathews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 10 a.m. in The Shepherd’s Way Church, 1225 Eagle Lake Road, Sealy, Texas.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Donnie McKinney, Mike Schreckenback, Richard Clarke, Alfredo Coreal, Charlie Highsmith, Arlis Pearce, Terry Forrester, Kip Poarch, Camp Arrington, Pepper Jones, Donnie Davis, Tom Monse, Steve Halter, Leonard Fluitt, David Egg and David Vrana.
