Mary Lou & Family-

Please accept our sincere condolences and prayers. Buster was a great statesman and I enjoyed working with him during his tenure as Mayor. It was a pleasure know him, his humor and most of all his concern for his friends, neighbors and family. Brenham is a better place thanks to him.

Dear Mrs. Appel, Luanne and Marty,
We are so saddened to hear the news that Mr. Appel had passed away. His kind heart and genuine wit will be remembered forever. We shared so many happy times together and we were very lucky to have had the opportunity to spend them with your family. He has always been a true role model for others to follow as a father, husband, grandfather and American citizen. He will be missed by many!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Dearest Luanne and Mrs. Appel,

You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of grieving for the passing of Mr. Appel. I know you will cherish your memories of your Dad as a part of your life, as well as a part of who you are.

I also believe that your Dad's love for you will continue to grow spiritually. May you find comfort in thinking of him in quiet moments, for years to come. My Dad's been gone for thirty years now, but I can still feel his love when I look in my own eyes, that look so much like his eyes did. Although your Father's life force has passed on, his love for you will go on forever, just like your love for him.

I know the kids will miss your Dad terribly, as there can only be one "Poppy" in a lifetime. My grandfathers both died before I was born, and I sometimes wonder who they were, and what made them tick, and laugh. Your kids were fortunate to have had the time to know your Dad, and his love will nurture their hearts forever. I hope they come through the grieving process okay, and that their memories and love of God will get them through the loss of their very special "Poppy."

My sincere condolences also to your Mom. Because my Mom's been widowed twice, I've had a window to knowing of the pain that comes from the loss of a spouse. My prayers and best wishes are with her as she struggles through her grief. Spending time with you and Marty and the kids will certainly ease the empty feeling that remains when the memorial services have passed. I know that Marty will miss your Dad too, and I wish him God's peace.

Love can overcome many things, and I pray that you and your family will find solace and comfort in God's love for us all. I always think of you as a sister, my dear friend, and please know that my heartfelt wishes are with you--now and always.

Love, Patricia

Mrs. Appel, Luanne, Martin, Andrew, Grace, Anna, and Caroline,

We only met Mr. Appel a few times, but felt like we knew him so well. He was so friendly and outgoing and we just wanted to share that with all of you. Our son Jake, being a friend of Andrews, thoroughly enjoyed him while visiting with Andrew up at the "cabin" in Brenham for Andrews birthday when they were younger and just last summer. I know he will be missed, but will be with each and everyone of you in heart, soul, and spirit forever.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Love,

The Hoffmans,

Please accept the heartfelt condolences of our family to yours. Our family, the City of Brenham, and our community of Washington County will greatly miss Buster. His deep devotion to, and respect for, the community were evident throughout his life. His contributions to the development and enrichment of the community are not yet fully recognized, but many of the projects he envisioned and began will continue to strengthen the fabric of our community for years to come.
There is not a time I can remember when I did not know Buster. He still called me by my childhood name. I am honored to have been counted among his friends. I will miss his advice and counsel on which I placed great value.

Luanne, Martin and Mary Lou:

This is one huge loss to all that knew Kid. He was like the father I never had and was the one that always kept me in line as Luanne and I grew up. Kid was the one that I knew I could go to if I had a problem or needed advice on just about anything. I will never forget him or the family. I send all of you my love and will always keep Kid in my heart.
