Obituary

Rodell Jeanette (Klump) Baker, 83, wife of the late Johnny Baker, passed away March 10, 2010 at Trinity Medical Center.

Rodell was born February 14, 1927 in Greenvine to Emmet and Leonora Klump. She was baptized April 12, 1927 and confirmed April 6, 1941.

On February 10, 1946, she married Johnny Otto Baker. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham where she was active in the Ladies Circle. For twenty-four years Rodell worked for Brenham Tile and Floor Covering. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her three sons: John Douglas Baker and wife Loretha, Kenneth Ray Baker and wife Paula and David Craig Baker and wife Carrie; five grandchildren: John David Baker and wife Melanie, Amanda Gurka and husband Curtis, Lauren Baker, Kristen Baker and Catherine Baker; four great-grandchildren: Dylan Baker, Kylie Baker, Kendal Gurka and Kayn Gurka; four step grandchildren: Callie Bowman, Caitlin Bowman, Shelley Moerbe and husband Lee and Stephen Kruemcke; four step great-grandchildren: Chandler, Karson, Garrett and Parker Moerbe; sister: Ora Nell Bean and husband Jerry; sisters-in-law: Ora Nell Klump and Nadine Rau and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rodell was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Baker, her parents, sister Dorothy Klump and brother Kirby Klump.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham, with Pastor Matthew Jacobs officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Lea Cemetery of Brenham. The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m., at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, John David Baker, Curtis Gurka and nephews Gerald Bean, Warren Klump, Kirby Klump, Jr., and Wade Rau.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darlene Fischer, Ruby Luhn, Bernice Kolkhorst and Esther Mikeska.

Memorial contributions can be given to Grace Lutheran Building Fund.
