Obituary
Rosalie Lena Elda (Spies) Moehring of the Latium community passed away on July 25, 2026, surrounded by her children, at High Hope Care Center of Brenham.
Rosalie was born on June 20, 1932, in Carmine to Benno and Alma Cordes Spies. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended and graduated from Round Top-Carmine ISD.
She married Colvin H. (Red) Moehring on April 2, 1950, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top, with the Rev. A.B. Weiss presiding and made their home in the Latium community. The couple was blessed with three children, Gary, Rick, and Connie.
Rosalie was a homemaker until their youngest child started school. At that time, she went to work at Nat’s Tiny Tots as a seamstress and remained there until the business closed. She was a member of Greenvine Emmanuel Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher and a member of the Memorial Committee. She was also a member of the 42-domino club at “On Deck” and the Shelby birthday group.
Rosalie loved gardening and growing flowers of any kind. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, needlecraft, jigsaw puzzles, playing dominoes, dancing and fishing with her husband and grandchildren. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and preparing their favorite meals. She looked forward to every visit with her children and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rosalie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Terri Moehring, and Rick and Regina Moehring, all of Nacogdoches, and her daughter Connie Higgs of Brenham. She is also survived by grandchildren Carrie Jeffries and husband Jacob, Amber Walker and husband Clint, Brad Moehring, Ashley Michael, Melissa Diehl and husband Jeramy, Jeremy Higgs and wife Jordyn, and Brooke Kaminski and husband Josh. Also surviving her are great grandchildren Wyatt Moody, Kate Moody, Riley Walker, Caden Walker, Stella Michael, Josephine Michael, Phillip Diehl, Addison Diehl, Gracyn Kaminski, and Camdyn Kaminski. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, parents-in-law, brother and sister-in-law Glenver and Joyce Spies, brother Ledell Spies, sister and brother-in-law Eunell and Kearney Weyand, nephews Glyn Spies, Roger Weyand, Steven Spies and niece Wanda Kitchens.
Pallbearers will be Brad Moehring, Jeremy Higgs, Phillip Diehl, Wyatt Moody, Jeramy Diehl, Josh Kaminski, Clint Walker and Jacob Jeffries. Honorary pallbearers are Carrie Jeffries, Amber Walker, Ashley Michael, Melissa Diehl, Brooke Kaminski, Jordyn Higgs, Kate Moody, Riley Walker, Caden Walker, Stella Michael, Josephine Michael, Addison Diehl, Gracyn Kaminski and Camdyn Kaminski.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice.
