Obituary

Roy H. Brent 82 of Brenham passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at his home.

He was born April 13, 1924 in Livingston, Texas to Charley and Bessie (Whiteside) Brent. At age 19, Roy was inducted into the Army Air Force during World War II. He earned the following medals and their corresponding ribbons: Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Good Conduct, the American Theater Campaign, the European-African Mideast Theater Campaign with five Bronze Service Stars and the World War II Victory. On September 28, 1944, Roy married Olive “Dimples” Poulignot in St. Francis, Kansas. He was a self-employed cabinetmaker. Roy was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Roy was preceded in death by parents, daughter Jean Sapp, two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include: wife, Olive “Dimples” Brent of Brenham; son, Thomas Brent of Brenham; daughter, Rev. Olivia Evans of Normandy, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 27, 2006 from 6 – 8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service will be Friday, July 28 at 10 a.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Rev. Olivia Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Rest Cemetery.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
