Ruby Drews

Ruby Drews, 89, of Brenham passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009 in Brenham Rest Home.

Mrs. Drews was born April 28, 1920 in Burton, TX to Willie and Hulda Schroeder Hewitt. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was married to Erwin Gus Drews. Mrs. Drews was employed as a nurse’s aide at Brenham Rest Home for 45 years. She loved being with her family and grandchildren.

Her parents, husband and one grandchild preceded her in death.

She is survived by loving family: sons and daughters-in-law Ray Drews and Renee Cooper, Willis and Florence Drews; grandchildren Sandra Cook, Ray Drews, Jr., Scott (Jennifer) Drews and Daryl Drews; sisters Celesta Grote and Vel Lewis; six great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 3-5 pm, Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service is 11:00 am, Monday, October 12th at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton with Pastor Greg Felder officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton.

Pallbearers are Darrell Drews, Scott Drews, Allen Cooper, Mikie Albright and Rocky Januszewski.
