Obituary

Sarah Elizabeth Burau, age 90, of Brenham passed away peacefully in the morning hours of Monday, February 25, 2008 at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village. She succumbed to old age and the “Long Goodbye” of Alzheimer’s. She handled it as gracefully and dignified as all she did in life. She was a gentle and kind spirit.

Sarah was born on October 11, 1917 to Robert Henry Bazemore and Mary Bazemore at her home in Monroe County, Georgia. She was raised ‘Primitive Baptist’.

After graduating from High School, and at the young age of 16, she immediately entered nursing school where she obtained her license as a Registered Nurse. This started her dedicated and well-respected career as a Nurse that lasted just over 50 years.

Sarah was a person who followed her heart and used her talents and the knowledge she learned, to help others. She was a loving caregiver, not only in her nursing career, but she blessed all her family as well. She enjoyed music, dancing, golf, singing and practiced Positive Thinking. She loved animals and her pets.

She joined many loved ones on Monday upon her passing, her son Richard M. Mitchell, III, and his father Richard M. Mitchell, Jr., and her loving husband Norman P. Burau, as well as her parents, many brothers, and other relatives. It is a comfort that she is with Our Heavenly Father, and her loving family who have previously passed.

Survivors include her daughter, Mimi and husband Mike Mushaway; and her granddaughter Erin Mushaway all of Brenham, Texas.

After cremation, at a later date, a private ceremony will be held to honor her well lived life.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter, 2242 West Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030 or online www.alztex.org, or to a charity or church of your choosing.
