Obituary
Sarah Helen Anderson, 85, of the Wesley community, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas.
Sarah, who was known by her friends as “Sally”, was born in Lake, Mississippi on May 12, 1918 to Marshall and Elizabeth Ann Ellis Simmons. She grew up in Mississippi and received a bachelors degree in 1939 from Mississippi State College for Women. Sally had worked as a teacher and was retired from Woodview Elementary in the Spring Branch ISD of Houston. She began 57 years of marriage to Robert Hicks Anderson on May 19, 1941 in Riverside, California. Mr. Anderson passed away in 1998. Sally was a member of the Brenham Herb Society (Pioneer Branch) and loved gardening. She also enjoyed sewing, photography, playing piano and tending her cattle.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses Helen Anderson of Houston, Fred Perry and Maryann B. Anderson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Martha Anderson Corbridge of Anchorage, Alaska and Joe Douglas and Molly C. Anderson of Charlotte, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Robert Clark Anderson, Bradley Scott Anderson, Elizabeth Ann Corbridge, William Robert Corbridge, Mark Everett Anderson and Karen Eileen Anderson; her brother Perry Marshall Simmons and wife Bernice of Baytown, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Joy Anderson of Stephenville, Texas; and long time friend Eleanor Magee of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert Hicks Anderson.
The family will be receiving friends from 6 – 8:00 pm Friday, May 14, 2004 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 15, 2004 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Rev. Milton Maly will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wesley Brethren Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Fred Anderson Joe Anderson, Jim Anderson, Ken Anderson, Mark Anderson and William Corbridge. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Anderson and Perry Simmons.
