Obituary

Selma Landgraf Boeker, 85, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston.

She was born in Washington County on November 18, 1921 to Willie and Annie Rust Landgraf and was baptized March 12,1922 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill by Rev. Karl Merkel. On April 5, 1936 she was confirmed and on August 12, 1937 she was married to Newton R. Boeker both in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Rev. Paul Gogolin. She attended GayHill-Mound Hill schools in Washington County.

Selma was one of the original employees of Brenham State School, working as a dorm manager before retiring in 1984. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the afternoon Ladies Circle, Charter member of Washington County Laymens Prayer Breakfast Group, Brenham Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Buddy Wright Post #48 of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer for distributing commodities to the needy.

Her parents, husband, infant daughter Lois Ann, brother Eddie Landgraf, great-grandsons Aaron and Joshua Stayton and brother-in-law Gilbert Kankel preceded her in death.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Travis and Shirley Boeker; daughter and son-in-law Janis and John Stayton all of Brenham; grandchildren Lori Eberhardt, John T. Stayton, Lea and Dr. Ron Bartay, Ann and Rick Hammitt, S. Beth Stayton, great-grandchildren Cody Hicks, Ellen Eberhardt, Jackson, Savannah and Travis Bartay and Emily Hammitt; brothers and sisters-in-law Alfred and Iva Lee Landgraf of Pasadena, Lonnie and Leona Landgraf of Brenham; sister Mabel Kankel of Pasadena; sister-in-law Alice Landgraf of Brenham and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2007 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2007 in Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William H. Holzer officiating. Interment to follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Rick Hammitt, Dr. Ron Bartay, J. T. Stayton, Cody Hicks, Darrell Kankel, Dr. Kenneth Landgraf, Chris Quillian and John Hollywood with her granddaughters and her great-grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, 1212 W. Jefferson St., Brenham, TX 77833.
