Obituary

Shawn McLemore, affectionately known as "Guru," “Mack,” “Shawny 2-Guns,” Souldreadchef " and “Johnny Big Rig,” passed away on October 14, 2025, at the age of 50 in Austin, Texas. He was born in Woodland, California but lived a true country life in Burton, Texas. Shawn lived a life marked by service, adventure, and deep love for his family and friends.

Shawn proudly served in the United States Navy from October 15, 1996, to October 14, 2000, earning the Kosovo NATO Medal and the Kosovo Campaign Medal during his sea service deployment. Following his active-duty service, he continued in the Naval Reserve before transitioning to a career as an over-the-road truck driver. Later, Shawn joined the Department of Defense, serving at NAS Lemoore before transferring to Lackland Air Force Base, where he dedicated himself to supporting the fuels division of the Air Force. He retired from government service on October 1, 2025, ready to embark on a new chapter with his beloved wife, of 15 years, Vickie McLemore. Tragically, their dream of a shared retirement lasted only 14 days.

Shawn leaves behind his devoted wife, Vickie, who described him as her rock and soulmate. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Stephanie Trevino, her husband, Tim, along with their children, Andrew (15), Jude (13), and Victoria (11) of Austin, Texas, his step-son, Brian Andrews, his wife, Lisa, along with their daughter, Lucy (4) of Cypress, Texas. His mother, Diane Gaunt of Woodland, California.

Shawn’s unique humor, warmth and loyalty touched a multitude of friends across the country. He had a nickname for everyone and wasn't afraid to show his amazing yet sometimes questionable sense of humor!

Shawn's greatest joy was spending time with family and his four grandchildren, he was so proud to have a family. His second greatest joy was cooking. Shawn began making his famous barbecue sauce in 2011 and enjoyed grilling or smoking meats, all night long with Charlene and Matilda, his grills. He always made sure that every item he cooked was to please his "Queen", Vickie. He loved being outside, shooting his guns, working in the lawn, chopping wood, messing the dogs and helping his friends and neighbors all the while making them laugh.

Shawn was a man of courage, humor, and boundless heart, Shawn’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched. His memory will be treasured and our lives all are better for knowing him Shawn finished his purpose here on Earth now his final reward is to be at peace in God's country. 110% Now and Forever Honey. May God rest you soul.
