Obituary
Shirley, known to so many by Ann, 88, passed away on April 27, 2026 at Argent Court in Brenham.
Ann was born on May 26, 1937, in Brenham to Herman and Theresa (Kaminski) Wessinger. She was a long-time member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society.
Ann dedicated her life to caring for her daughter, Janice. She and Janice made weekly trips to town and would always find a couple of garage sales on the weekends to hunt for and collect “treasures.”
Ann is survived by her daughter, Janice; sister Elizabeth Wessinger; sister-in-law Sophie (Jack) Murski; nephew John (Rebecca) Mikolajczak, who saw to her care in her last years. Ann is also survived by nieces and nephews Henry Jr. (Kristin) Mikolajczak, Margaret (Darrin) Zwerneman, Frank Mikolajczak, Sara Bertram, Rebecca (Jeff) Thiem, Kristi Beth (Doug) Ramsey, Charlie (Brenda) Tallerine, Theresa McMannis, Rebecca McMannis and numerous cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband Johnny Skweres; son Johnny Ray (Boogie) Skweres, daughters JoAnn (Chris) Roberts and infant daughter, Barbara; Mother and Father in-law John and Josephine Mikolajczak; brother Herman Jr. (Frances)Wessinger and sister Linda McManis; niece Shelia Wessinger; brother-in law Henry Sr. (Stella)Mikolajczak.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM Friday, May 1, 2026, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill, Texas with Father Thaddeus Tabak, officiating. Graveside service will be immediately following at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Chappell Hill. The rosary will be recited at the church before the funeral, starting at 9:45 AM.
Serving as pallbearers are Jared Mikolajczak, Henry Mikolajczak Jr., Frank Mikolajczak, Darrin Zwerneman, Charlie Tallerine, Joseph Tallerine, and Jacob Tallerine.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to staff at Argent Court in Brenham for the compassionate care she received.
