Shirley Joan Williams Giese

Shirley Williams Giese, age 89, of Brenham, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026.

Shirley was born on May 13, 1937, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Arthur W. Williams and Clara Richardson. She was baptized at First Baptist Church in Brenham, Texas, where she was a lifelong member.

A proud Brenham Cub, Shirley graduated from Brenham High School in 1955. On May 4, 1957, she married the love of her life, Gus Giese Jr., at First Baptist Church in Brenham. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, shared interests, and countless memories.

Shirley worked for Jimmy Hahn Ready Mix and later at Design II. She was known for her warm personality, her eye for beauty, and her love of making a home feel welcoming and special. She especially enjoyed interior decorating and took great pleasure in decorating her home for every season.

Shirley and Gus shared many adventures together, including their love of estate sales and trips to the Round Top antique shows. They enjoyed traveling to the beach and making memories along the way. Shirley also had a special love for animals and cherished the several pets that were part of her family throughout the years.

A devoted supporter of her community, Shirley proudly cheered for the Brenham Cubs and was a loyal fan and supporter of Texas A&M athletics. Her love for her family, her faith, her home, and the people and traditions that brought her joy were central to who she was.

Shirley is survived by sons Jody A. Giese of Bryan, TX and Keith S. Giese of Dallas; grandchildren Gatlin and Carson Giese and Sydney Leinen; great-grandchildren Hollis and Lane Leinen; brothers and sister-in-law Gary and Janet Williams, Rodney and Pat Williams,; aunt Patricia Massey; sister-in-law Lillian Mantey; special nieces and nephews Gary Williams, Jr., Katherine Garrison, Christie Golla, Shawn Williams and numerous cousins.

In accordance with her wishes, a private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brenham Animal Shelter in helping with food and care.
