Shirley Ruth Devine

Shirley Ruth Devine was born Jan. 2, 1947. She passed away on July 6, 2019.

She was born in Corning, New York, to Andy and Marjorie Devine.

Shirley was raised by her grandmother with her younger sister after her mother passed away when she was only 4 years old and while her father was in the military.

As an adult, Shirley worked as a nurse’s aide until getting her LVN and moving to Brenham, Texas. She decided to call it home, where she worked at various health care companies for more than 30 years.

Shirley retired from the Brenham State Supported Living Center.

After retiring she spent time visiting with her family and friends and some of her favorite hobbies were watching westerns, shopping, going to the movies and visiting the patients she cared for. Shirley was of Baptist faith and involved in Brenham Community Center.

Shirley leaves behind seven children; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, Texas on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 4 p.m.
