Obituary

Stella Michalak passed away on March 3, 2019 in Houston, Texas, at 95 years of age. The daughter of Walter and Eva (Garanowski) Zientek, she was born in Washington County, Texas, on December 15, 1923.

In 1947, she married Leon Michalak, and they lived in Houston until they retired in 1980 and moved to Chappell Hill, Texas. They were married for 39 years until his death in 1986. She worked at Nabisco and retired after 33 years of service with them as a packing machine operator. She was a dedicated member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church for 40 years and a member of the Altar Rosary Society Austin Diocese.

Although Stella never had children of her own, she was the God Mother to several. She had a great love for dogs and dessert. Stella enjoyed cooking, dancing, weekly card games, and in her later years, traveling.

Stella is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sisters, Clara and Wanda; and brothers Bill, Johnny, Anton, Frank, and Edwin.

The family is especially thankful to Stella’s caregiver Barbara Bass and her family, who brought Stella so much happiness and love every day; and her close friends the Cone Family, Mark Kwiatkowski, and Tammie Felchak who were like family to her.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm.in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Chappell Hill, on Thursday, March 7, 2019. Graveside services will be Thursday afternoon at 3:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Father Jozef Musiol, SDS, JCD will be celebrant.
