Obituary

Steve John Wesneski, 91, of Houston, passed away on July 2, 2020 in Brenham.

Steve was born in Brenham on April 11, 1929, to parents Steve Frank and Mary (Andrejzcak) Wesneski. Steve grew up in Brenham with his many siblings and attended local schools. In 1952, Steve was drafted into the US Army. He served for two years in Europe during the allied occupation.

On February 11, 1956, Steve was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Rosner at St. Mary’s Church in Brenham. They made their home in Houston for nearly 60 years. Steve was a master machinist for over 60 years. For 53 of those years, he was employed by H & S Enterprises in Houston. He retired at age 82. After Mary’s passing in 2014, Steve returned to Brenham.

Steve and Mary were faithful and devoted Catholics, and they were honored to have been charter members of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Houston. Steve served as lead usher for years, and was always a willing volunteer, giving his time and talent for many activities and projects.

Steve is preceded in death by his wife Mary; grandson David Wesneski; parents Steve Frank and Mary; siblings Willie Wesneski, Bennie Wesneski, Jerry Joe Wesneski, Angeline Carter; god-parents Uncle Steve Andrejzcak and Theresa Baranowski.

Steve’s surviving loving family includes: children and their spouses, Shirley (Dan) Atwood of Waco, Steven Ray Wesneski of Houston, Donnie (Debbie) Wesneski of Brenham; grandchildren, Aron (Jenny) Wesneski, Justin (Samantha) Kidd, Arianna (Matt) Henning, Josh Atwood, Angela Wesneski, Kristi (Greg) Wesneski Harris; great-grandchildren, Payton, Taylor, Addyson, Carter, Carson Wesneski, Lane Presley, Paige and Hank Harris,Cash Kidd and Faith Henning; siblings Hattie Light, Annie Wesneski, Dorothy Wesneski, Alvin Wesneski, Dennis Wesneski, Harold Wesneski.

Pallbearers will be Danny Atwood, Josh Atwood, Aron Wesneski, Tom Wesneski, Ronnie Gaetz, John Carpenter Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Wesneski, Mike Naski, and Justin Kidd. The family would also like to recognize Steve’s godson Phillip Liescheski.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020, from 5:00 pm until the rosary is recited at 7:00 pm, at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Brenham. Father Joven Saavedra will be celebrant.
