It's been a 1-1/2 since Stew passed away, and I still remember what an outstanding person he was. He will always be missed.

Its been 2 months since Stew has passed away and I still have a hard time believing that he's gone. I guess thats because since moving to Florida, it had already been awhile that I have seen him. I think in a way this is good because he's still around in my mind. Stew was always one for a good story and a good laugh. He adored all his grandchildren. You could see his face light up whenever one walked into the room, unless of course he was deeply watching one of his favorite movies. He was the Movie King! It will be odd the next I visit not to see him there. We are all fortunate to have known him and the world is just a little bit less special without him. Take care and love always.

I just read the news today about Stew. I am very sorry to hear this and wanted to express my sincere condolences to you and the family.

I worked for Stew way back in the Bearfoot Sole days (circa 1974) in Wadsworth Ohio. Stew gave me a "ride" home in his VW Bug during the Blizzard of '78 when my vehicle broke down. What a ride that was folks!!

As I read through the messages of others I can tell you this, Stew was always a very nice, fair man. A very good, understanding boss and an even better human being.

After lo' these many years I have had numerous managers, Stew ranks amongst the best I've had. A real tribute to the man.

God Bless you and your family and thank you for sharing your husband with all of us through the years. We are all better for that.

Sincerely,

Rick Watkins

For Anita, his children, and all of those who loved Stew as I did.....

As I read the condolences, I can't help but notice how many times it is mentioned that Stew impacted someone's life.... it's not that he was nice, or smart, or just helpful, but that he made a difference in so many lives. Stew was a great boss, a great friend, a great man, but most of all, Stew was a great leader. "Leadership is lifting a person's vision to higher sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations"; that is what Stew did for many people. Because of the impact that Stew had on so many of us, he will live on through our families, our friends and through our careers and others that we touch on a daily basis. That is what "living" is all about. We all have suffered a great loss but the angels are rejoicing in heaven now. I look forward to the day where I will see him again.

Our sincere sympathy on the loss of a husband, father, grandfather, and cousin - Stew. He will be sadly missed and this is the second loss of a family member this year. His mother was one of our favorites. Our children were the "little kids" to Stew. Dick & Jayne Jacobson

I want to express my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I only got to know Stew for a few months, while he was President and CEO at
Accurate Elastomer Products (AEP) in Elgin. But he was a Great person to be around and to work for.
I loved his laugh and happy personality. He will be missed very much. AEP will never be the same with out Stew. You Take care and come see us again in Elgin, when ever you can.

Anita & family:
It's not often in life that you meet someone like Stew. I got to know him through being Don's boss, but soon he became my friend also. It was always fun to come into Acadia and give him a hug just to see his face turn red. Stew offered me a job countless times and finally I got the opportunity to work for him in Roanoke. A year after the doctor's told Don he could no longer work, I was downsized from a job of 13 years and he offered me this opportunity. It not only gave me an income but saved my sanity. I can't imagine how much you are missing him, and I'm sure you know he loved you very much. One thing for sure, Don and I both loved him and thought a lot of him and we will miss him very much too.

Anita & all of Stew's family:
I really don't know how to let you know how much Stew meant to me. Through the years he became not only my boss but one of the best friends I have ever had. Stew had a unique ability to recognize a person's potential and then give them the opportunity and quidance to succeed. I would never have had the chance without his help and support. He was there through the good times and the bad and when I got sick and the doctors said I could never work again, he sent me a check for $10,000.00 & to my knowledge never told anyone, & I know I wasn't the only one he helped in this way. Along with this money, he sent me a letter telling me how much he appreciated me through the years and would always be my friend. I still have this letter and will treasure it forever. We always had this running joke about a steak dinner and who was going to buy the next one...it was usually him. I know you and his family will miss him very much and words can never heal the pain, but knowing the type of man he was, you can be assured that he is sitting up in heaven watching over you. I loved Stew like a brother and got to tell him so the last time I saw him, a few months ago. Don Forrester
