Obituary

Sydonia Hoermann Levy, 99, peacefully passed away at 6 AM, February 15, 2019, at the Brookdale Nursing Home in Fort Worth, Texas.

Vistation will be from noon till 2:00 PM Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Brenham Memorial Chapel with funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Ledbetter Cemetery.

Sydonia was born to Henry and Ilda Foehner Hoermann on February 5, 1920 in Carmine, Texas. Sydonia and Wallace were married October 6, 1940 in Giddings, Texas. She and Wallace were married for 72 years and were dancers who attended and gave dances two or three times a month until his passing in 2013.

Sydonia and her family were able to attend the celebration of her 99th birthday. She was happy to see her birthday cake. She enjoyed the celebration with her daughter Helen (James) Bassett, son Phillip, three grandchildren, (Jeanna and Sam (Tiffany) Bassett, Paula Luna), and four great-grandchildren (Lance and Eric Luna, and Braeden and Madeline Bassett.

Sydonia loved baseball and was a dedicated Texas Ranger fan. She loved to garden and continued doing so until she was well past her 97th birthday. Her favorite flowers were roses. She also enjoyed bird watching.

Sydonia is survived by her daughter Helen (James) Bassett, sons Larry (Charlene) and Phillip Levy, sisters Delores Milczewski and Iva Lee Landgraf, grandchildren Jeanna Bassett, Paula Luna, and Sam (Tiffany) Bassett, Kathy Levy, Patricia Hammond, and Carrie Lorey, great grandchildren Lance and Eric Luna, Braeden and Madeline Bassett, Sophia and Helena Hammond, nieces Mae Fleming, Brenda Gilmore, Bron Milczewski, Debbie Hollywood, Gina Landgraf, and nephews Bob Wright, Rob and Pat Patteson, and Gary Hoermann.

Sydonia was preceded in death by her husband: Wallace James Levy, her daughter: Linda Levy Simmons, her brother: Leroy Hoermann, her sisters Myra and Bernice Hoermann, and her parents: Henry and Ilda Foehner Hoermann.

We will always remember Mother. She was there for all of us through good and bad times. There will never be another to replace Mother in our hearts…and we will always love you, Mother
