Terry Lee Botts

Terry Lee Botts, 63, passed away on August 14, 2019, in his Brenham home, surrounded by his loving family.

Terry was born on May 2, 1956, to parents James and Olga (Wheeles) Botts in Wyandotte, Michigan. Terry and his two sisters grew up in Lincoln Park, Michigan.

In 1975, following his graduation from Lincoln Park High School, Terry joined the US Navy. He was very proud to have served his country, and remained very patriotic. Terry’s career continued to involve the military; he spent many years as a Civil Servant at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Terry was united in marriage with Faith Jean Matthews on August 7, 1976, in Wyandotte, Michigan. They were blessed with two daughters. Terry’s daughters will always remember his love of jokes - especially when he would start tap dancing to get a laugh out of them!

Terry always enjoyed time spent with family, particularly trips to Branson, Missouri, and Disneyworld. He enjoyed being outside admiring God’s creations, even if just to step into the garden and watch the birds and lizards. His other love in life was sports - he played Little League in his childhood, softball, and spent many years on their church’s league. He was very proud to have lettered in football on the High School Varsity Team.

Terry was a dedicated Christian. He accepted Christ at age 20, and faith was a big part of his life. Although in recent years his declining health prevented him from attending church as often as he would like, he still enjoyed encouraging gospel music at home. Terry also enjoyed classic rock, especially Elvis Presley, Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), and Johnny Cash.

Terry’s surviving loving family includes: wife of 43 years, Faith; daughters, Courtney Botts and Vanessa (husband Stephen) Meacham; grandchildren, Trinity and Asaiah Botts, and Katherine, George, Miriam, James, Caroline, and Rachel Meacham; sisters Sarah (husband Ulises) Silva of Florida, Edith (husband Ray) Legendre of George; and mother-in-law Dorothy Ambrose.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, James and Olga.

Visitation with the Botts family will begin at 10:00am and continue until the funeral service begins at 11:00am, on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Pastor John Maurer of Central Baptist Church of Bryan will officiate. Interment will be private.
