Obituary

Thomas Ray “Tommy” Brent, 61 of Hempstead passed away Monday, July 19 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, July 22nd in Brenham Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Dean Meade officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Greg Burkhalter, Bill White, Allen Kristos, Donnie Poston, Jerry Flischman and Tommy Eldridge.

Tommy was born in Houston, October 10, 1948 to Roy and Olive (Poulignot) Brent. He was a graduate of Galena Park High School and attended Sam Houston State University, where he received several rodeo scholarships. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Tommy married Debra Roberts October 23, 1993. He was employed as a line design supervisor by Bryan Texas Utilities. Tommy was a fun loving, kind and giving person. He loved rodeoing, bull and bronc riding, scuba diving, fishing, golfing, and hunting. Tommy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and for many years involved with the Burleson County Saddle Club.

Tommy is preceded in death by his father and sister Jeannie Sapp.

His surviving loving family includes: wife Debra Brent of Hempstead; mother, Olive “Dimples” Brent of Tullahome, Tennessee; sons Mike and wife Jean Brent of Brenham, Tommy, Jr. and wife Donna Brent of Corpus Christi, Spencer Sullivan of Porter; daughter, Marti and husband Charley Thompson of Spring; grandchildren, Cassi and Dustin Brent, Erika and Matthew Brent, Eric Todd, Maigen Sullivan, Kayleigh Johns, Jake and Ashlan Thompson and Liam Sullivan; sister Olivia and husband Bruce Evans of Tullahome, Tennessee; numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends.
