T. K. Condron passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at the age of 98. A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Brenham on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
T. K. was born on September 17, 1922 in Throckmorton, Texas to C. C. “Monk” and Ollie Peeler Condron. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Texas A&M University until December 1941 when Pearl Harbor was bombed, and he immediately enlisted in the Army. During his service in Indianapolis, he met the love of his life, Christine Condron. They were happily married for 70 years before her death in 2015. Upon his retirement from Texas Rice Inc. in Houston, he fulfilled his dream of returning to living in the country and raising cattle. T. K. and Christine considered their acreage in Brenham as a “slice of heaven.”
If one word could describe T. K., that word would be service. When Christine began deteriorating from dementia, he tirelessly cared for her for eight years before her death on June 15, 2015. He loved God, family, country, and his fellowmen. He was extremely involved in church having served as Deacon, Sunday School Director and Teacher, Chairman of multiple committees among several other jobs. For the past 40 years, T. K. has been a member at First Baptist Church of Brenham.
He was extremely devoted to providing food to the less fortunate in Washington County through his involvement in Bread Partners. He had a heart for helping others in need – often delivering food to individuals who called. He would always say that he could not allow someone to go hungry. For his service, he was awarded the Lifetime Service Award by Adult and Teen Challenge of Brenham.
T. K. never met a stranger and was never at a loss for words. One of his greatest pleasures was telling stories and "solving the world's problems" with his Bread Partner group on Thursdays.
T. K. is survived by his daughters, Shirley Stevens and Glenna Knight (Joe), his son, Trevin Condron (Cindi), eight grandchildren, Bryan Stevens, Katrina Kauffman, Shannon Deer, Kristin Dickerson, Lindsay Pitman, Colt Groth, Ginny Groth and Luke Condron, seventeen great grandchildren, Garrett, Reagan and Carson Stevens, R. J., Zachary and Nicholas Kauffman, Madi McDonald, Harper Pitman, Emma and Colten Groth, Turner, Tillman, Truett, and Tennessee Dickerson, Brayden, Brynna and Byrdie Laird, sister-in-law Brenda Condron, brother-in law Hubert Stacy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by treasured “family of the heart” who he loved dearly and allowed him to stay in his home until his final day.
T. K. was preceded in death by his wife, Christine; brother, Blake Condron; son-in-law, Freddie Stevens; granddaughter- in-law, Aly Groth, and great grandchild, Gracie Groth.
