Obituary

Valeria Nowak, 94 of Brenham, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at her home.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 23rd from 5 p.m. until rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 24th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Jayaraju Polisetty as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Valeria was born December 21, 1923 in Chappell Hill to Frank and Stella (Strenk) Duszynski. On October 26, 1941, she married Joseph Nowak at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Together they ranched and she enjoyed gardening. Valeria worked as a waitress for many years and retired from K & G Steakhouse after 21 years of employment. After Joe’s death in 1995, she enjoyed traveling.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, brother Joe Duszynski and sister Martha Jankowiak.

Surviving family includes: nieces and nephews, Jean and Randy Hackstedt, Sylvia and Jimmy Hines, Pearl and David Campbell, Delores Schulze, Deacon Dan Nowak, David Swonke and numerous great nieces and nephews; special friends Charles Sulak, Vicky Kenjura, Sheryl Pratt and Dottie Hensen; dog Rosco.

Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Hines, Tim Murski, Randy Hackstedt, Michael Black, Robert Neil Small and Deacon Dan Nowak. Honorary pallbearer will be David Campbell.

A special thank you to her caregivers Delores, Shirley, and Darlene.

Memorials are requested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
