Velma (Henneke) Muegge

Velma Ann Muegge, 95, of Brenham, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Mrs. Muegge was a resident of Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the past 2 ½ years.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 28th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 29th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Monsignor Benedict Zientek, celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Muegge was born on May 12, 1920 in the Bernardo Mentz Community of Colorado County to John and Maggie (Roesler) Henneke. She lived on the farm and attended school there.

On November 16, 1947, Velma was united in marriage to Mr. Alfred Muegge at St. Roch’s Catholic Church in Mentz, Texas, where she had been baptized as an infant. They farmed together at Kenney and later moved to Brenham.

Mrs. Muegge was a devoted and loving wife, mother and sister. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham. She was a member of the Altar Society; involved in Parish, Deanery and Diocese Council of Catholic Women and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Her favorite hobby was gardening.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, an infant brother and brother Oswald Henneke.

She is survived by her dedicated and loving son Clarence Muegge of Brenham, nephews Jerry, Robert, and Larry Henneke, numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
