Viola (Janes) Wilhelmsen

Viola (Janes) Wilhelmsen, 91 of Brenham, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

Viola Janes was born August 1, 1929 in the Wesley Community of Austin County, Texas. Parents were John and Dora (Brending) Janes. She was baptized and confirmed May 13, 1945 by Pastor Theo Streng at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was educated in Brenham Public Schools. On November 29, 1950, Viola was married to Ernst Wilhelmsen by Rev. W.C. Poehlmann in Salem Lutheran Church.

She was a homemaker and was an immaculate housekeeper. Viola took pride in her yard and caring for her flowers. Throughout her lifetime, she had many beloved pets and loved to feed and watch birds from her window.

Viola was preceded in death by: parents, husband Ernst on October 23, 1986 and one sister.

She is survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Wednesday, February 24 from 8 a.m. until noon at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 24 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Pat Dietrich officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: cousins James Brending, Leroy Brending, Herman Brending, Freddie Brending, Gary Brending, and Roger Brending. Honorary pallbearers will be: Patsy Brending, Denise Brending, Robert and Jan Wilhelmsen.
